What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a time-tested method that was invented more than 100 years ago to remove unwanted hair. Today’s medical electrolysis devices destroy the growth centre of the hair with an electric current. A very fine probe is gently inserted into the hair follicle at the surface of the skin. A very low electrical current then destroys the papillae, ending further hair growth and the hair is removed with tweezers. This means that the hair is treated one at a time.
What type of hair is suitable for Electrolysis?
The areas mostly treated with Electrolysis are the -
Occasionally other areas are suitable and this can be discussed with your Electrologist. Ideally the hair needs to be stronger than fluff and can be any colour. Facial fluff cannot be treated as the follicle is too small.
What causes unwanted hair growth?
Hair growth is the result of hereditary and hormonal levels. Also, some drugs and illnesses can stimulate hair growth.
How many Treatments will I need?
Since many factors influence hair growth, you will need to return for several electrolysis treatments. The total number of treatments needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person. Most clients return once a week for every other week initially, then as necessary. But the unwanted hair will be gone forever once the series of treatments have been completed. Each treatment lasts from 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on amount of hair growth.
